The 2024 DMG Annual General Meeting

The time has come yet again for the DMG Annual General Meeting (AGM)!

The AGM is an opportunity for our membership to learn about the past year of activity in the organization and to have a say in how the next year goes. We will be covering our financial records, program history, the future of DMG, and much more!

The DMG AGM is scheduled for 1pm EST on April 13th, 2024, and will be held virtually via our Discord channel. To reserve your spot in the meeting, please fill and submit this form.

The AGM FAQ

Q: Have the requirements for membership or voting rights at the AGM changed?

A: Yes! Due to our recent board decision to cancel current paid memberships, we have made the following changes to our membership system for this AGM. These changes are temporary pending the results of this AGM and further policy review.

Changes to General Membership:

In the interest of accessibility and financial fairness, we are currently recognizing any member of our Discord server who has been active (see follow-up questions) within the last year as a general member of the DMG organization. General members do not get a vote at the AGM unless they also meet the qualifications of a voting member (listed below), but are allowed to attend the AGM.

Changes to Voting Membership:

To be eligible to vote at the AGM, an individual must first qualify as a general member under the conditions above, and must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

1. They have participated in a DMG run or sponsored event in the past year. Examples of such events include, but are not limited to:
   • participants and mentors in programs like Damage Labs
   • speaking on a DMG Showcase stream
   • attending the DMG Delights holiday pop up market in any capacity
   • recieving a GDC 2024 All-Access pass code from DMG
   • participating in the OCAD Bodies in Plan event series
2. They have contributed to DMG financially in the past year, either through membership subscriptions, Twitch subscriptions, KoFi donations, or as a part of a grant organization or corporate relationship
3. If they self-identify as a member of a marginalized community

We want to highly encourage every voting member to attend the AGM this year. Please be sure to register with the link provided.

Q: What do you mean by “been active” on the Discord?
A: We will be using a Discord bot to check chat activity on our server channels from the past year. If you have posted a message, responded to one, or even just sent an emoji reaction, we are counting it! There is also no time restriction on how recent is has to have been, meaning if you want to join our Discord between this announcement and the AGM we will gladly have you.

The Discord bot will also assign anyone who meets those criteria a new “Current Member” role, which will give them access to the AGM presentation channels.

Q: How will votes be cast?
A: When you register for your seat at the AGM, if you meet the criteria of a voting member, we will assign your Discord user ID a “Voting Member” role in the server, allowing you access to a specific channel dedicated to voting for the AGM.

Q: I want to vote at the AGM but can’t attend. What do I do?
A: During the AGM sign up process, you can nominate an individual who will be attending to act as your proxy vote. By doing this, any motions they vote for will also be supported by your vote.

Q: I can’t attend the AGM but would like to recieve updates about the results of the meeting, how do I do that?
