Nov. 9–17, 2013

At Gamma Space in Toronto (map)

No Jam 2: VideoVideo: A game jam bringing film, video, animation, and comic artists together to make multi-screen experimental FMV (full-motion video) games.

  1 day of workshops

+ 1 week of prep and design

+ 2 days of jamming

= FMV videogame brain melts!

Applications are now closed.

What is No Jam 2: VideoVideo?

No Jam 2 will give participants a quick-and-dirty introduction to DIY game-making by throwing them into the frenzied, extremely time-limited format of a game jam. Participants will collaborate with one other artist in a different discipline to produce a small FMV multi-screen game.

Why are the game:play lab at OCAD U and DMG Toronto running this jam?

We are interested in seeing how FMV (full-motion video) multi-screen game tools (developed for the feminist art game PsXXYborg) enhance your game-making, and how the game jam format works for artists working in different media. This is a collaborative research project that will explore experimental game development practices.

Do I need to know how to program?

No game-making experience or skills required! Our workshops will get you up to speed with all the software you need for the jam, and we'll have technical support on hand throughout the weekend. All you have to do is create.

Do I need to bring my own computer?

If you have one, yes! If not, no problem—we have Mac and PC laptops available to use on site.

Is the jam open to anybody?

No Jam 2 is an inclusive and explicitly feminist space. You do not have to be a DMG member to apply and participate.

Applications closed October 28.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. We welcome and encourage people of all abilities to apply and participate. Read about venue accessibility.

How much does No Jam 2 cost?

The program is free. Financial assistance is available for those taking public transit. Lunch, coffee, and snacks will be provided each day.
